Kat Eaton Live Review

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to watch Kat Eaton perform her last gig of the year, in Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios. The venue was a cosy and intimate space which Kat effortlessly captivated with her Northern charm. As someone who has never encountered Kat’s music before, I must say that I was unsure of what to expect in her performance but I thoroughly enjoyed the night. Kat’s stage presence was impressive and she easily held the attention of the audience, everyone mesmerised into silence each time she began to sing.

Throughout the night, the band played a range of songs curating a perfect mix which included old favourites, newer material and classic covers. In particular, the band's cover of Tom Waits’ ‘Come on Up to the House’ was a charming end to the night - Kat showcased her powerful vocals whilst also engaging her audience to sing along. The atmosphere remained cheery throughout the entirety of the night and Kat was consistently considerate of everyone in the room - both her audience and band members. A particularly endearing element of her set included watching her ability to engage with her fellow band members, each musician afforded a segment of time to showcase their instrument.

After her final song, the audience demanded one more - to which the talented Kat obliged. Overall, it was a fantastic night of music - I would highly recommend seeing Kat Eaton live if you have the chance. Just as Kat’s crowd on Thursday night shouted for more, I will also be eager to watch her perform again.
